Random Programs Closing on startup

Everytime i start up vista most of my programs 'dont respond' and vista
prompts me to close them. This happens with 7-8 programs, but as soon as this
is done. i can re run the programs afterwords without any problems.

Any ideas why this happens and how to fix it? ive run a virus scan and
spyware scan and nothing has come up

(Startup Programs such as AVG, Defender, Symetic touchpad(SP?) (on laptop
btw) etc.)

It seems you have set way too many applications to be automatically launched
after logging in.This is appearing to utilise very high resources because of
which the system becomes unresponsive. No doubt then that Vista asks you to
close a few of them. You mention 7-8 programs do not respond. This number is I
guess too high (atleast for your hardware to handle the load).
Of course you can run these programs individually and manually once the PC
is stable and usable, which is why you face no problems in running them later
as you have said.Just don't let them launch themselves at start-up.Use
Windows Defender and go to the `Tools` option. In there, use `Software
Explorer` to manage start-up items (Make sure you first click the `Show for
all users` button and then make the changes).Leave only those
applications/packages which you are guaranteed to use every-time you start
the PC for any reason what-so-ever.Launching other programs automatically
may seem convenient but it's better to disable them if you do not use them
at every re-boot.
These may all be clean and harmless software(atleast those which you
mentioned definitely are),which is why no malicious program was detected in
the scans as you said.

Namenone,
Win+R | Msconfig.exe | OK | StartUp tab |uncheck anything not from Intel or Microsoft | OK you way out and Restart

If now your system is responsive, then you might want to ask yourself - do I really need program xyz to start at startup time?

There's nothing at all unusual in having AVG (antivirus), Windows Defender,
and the control panel for your Synaptic touchpad running at startup. You
should not have to disable any of them.

However, it sounds as though there is something conflicting at startup time
on your system. You don't have (or didn't have) other antivirus or
anti-spyware software running on the system? You haven't gone through some
"tweaking" guide somewhere and turned off services or changed default
security or performance settings in the OS?

It is likely that you are going to have to figure this out for yourself. You
said there were 7-8 programs that don't respond. Are these, in fact, programs
that start when Vista starts, or are they just programs that fail to work
properly when you start them manually?

Some suggestions that might help:
1. Be sure your BIOS and drivers are at the latest stable and certified
levels. Driver issues can make software and the operating system fail.
2. Look in the Event Viewer's Applications and System logs. Do you get any
additional information about possible causes of the problem?
3. You could try removing all of the programs with which you are having
difficulties. Reboot and test the system afterward. Does everything respond
now?
4. Add the programs back one-at-a-time, rebooting and testing after each
program is added. If things start malfunctioning immediately after you add a
program, then that program is a POSSIBLE culprit. (It is also possible that
something added previously is conflicting with this program, and it may NOT
be the cause of the issue you're seeing. But at least you have a better idea
of which software is involved in the conflict.)

It is likely that this situation may be quite difficult to clear up. You may
not get an answer until you've tried the above process and changed the
installation order. Fortunately, it isn't an intermittent problem. You say it
happens every time you start the system. So you should know right away when
you have a solution.

I'm sorry to say that I don't know of a way to make it easier for you, other
than to say that you should look at all of your software to be sure you have
the latest and (one hopes) the most Vista-compatible version of it for your
system. The software you listed is pretty well-known and should NOT be the
cause of your problem. If you have any dodgy software installed, that's the
first stuff that should be blown away.

Thank you very much for helping me here, i will try what you have suggested.
Its weird as this jsut randomly started happening, i do not remember changing
any settings etc. but i will have a look,

I tried my best to make a list of all the programs that do not respond. this
ONLY happens when i boot up the computer and logon, after that everything is
fine when i reboot the programs one by one.

Programs close:
userinit logon application
windows defender user iterface
synaptics touchpad enhancments
desktop window manager
avg control center
java platform SE binary

errors:

something ban happened in the applcation. error diagnostic file saved to
c:\USERNAME\appdata\roaming\avg7\avgcc.err
Something bad happened in the apllication. Error diagnostic file saved to
'd:\Grisoft\AVG anti-spyware 7.5\avgas.err

Apologies for the spelling,

One other note. I forgot to mention that among the programs you mentioned as
being unresponsive it seems that you have some Windows components. DON'T try
to uninstall those, if you go on into the troubleshooting scenario. Just
remove third party stuff. If you Windows OS can't even get to its feet
without third party software installed, then you have problems that are
probably going to necessitate a clean reinstallation of the OS. (But don't go
there yet, unless you just want the experience.)
