Random decimals in mailmerge?!?

I have a very weird behaviour into my word mailmerge document...
I have a mailmerge field linked to a cell into an excel table.
Excel table is made up of several lines.
When i "browse" lines using the Word mailmerge document, something really weird happens: sometimes, the number is properly copied into word document; other times, random decimal numbers are added, so number 8,3 becomes 8,3000000000000007 !!! With 14 zeroes and a final "7"!!
Other times I get 14 zeroes followed by a "2" (3,7 --> 3,7000000000000002)

What's going here? Is my word version possessed?!?

Tools -> Options --> Standard --> ask for confirmation when opening

WHen asked for opening mode, select "Excel sheets using DDE"
