RamDisk problem?

Hi All,

I use the MS-Ramdisk driver, it works on my XP pro.
I put the component into the XPe image, but it does not
work.

I use the Ram base EWF, I do not know if it affects the
MS-Ramdisk.

Thanks.

What is MS-Ramdisk driver? Are you using example driver RamDisk from MS, or
there is MS product called MS-Ramdisk driver?

Also when you have created component check that you are using correctly your
repository.
Since file ramdisk.sys exists in XPe repository and is used for RAM booting
XPe.
RamDisk driver that you are probably referring too is also called
ramdisk.sys, so you can have file name collision if you use your component
and Windows RAM Disk Driver component.

To conclude:
1. You must not use (or you need to modify inf file): Windows RAM Disk
Driver component.
2. You must make your own component for RAM Disk support.

Hi,
I use the example driver ramdisk from MS.
I have made my own component, and not using the
Windows Ramdisk.
I have added the FAT and FAT Format components.
The Ramdisk (Z:) appears, but can not be use.
There is an error message.
But when I plug the USB mass storage device,
the ramdisk(FAT format) starts to work.

How to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Bryan.

Hi,

I don't know what can be the problem with info you provided.

Try stopping and running RAM disk driver.

And post more info because someone else could give you answer.

Try to change these registry keys (if they are not set yet):

[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Ramdisk\Parmeters]

DiskSize change to 01F00000 (32505856)

[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Fastfat\Start]

Start change from 4(disabled) to 1(system)

Then reboot the arget and see f it helped.
