Ramdisk does not work with SP1 ???

Dont try to sell me that a ramdisk is not a good idea...
On my old machine, running XP (no SP1 installed) , I used Tweak XP Pro to install a ramdisk: no problem
Now, my new computer has the same os but with SP1 added, and for some reason, no ramdisk software works!
Ive tried 4-5 different ones, Ive installed and deinstalled the ramdisk.inf and sys files, both ramdisk controlled and ramdisk
itself are visible in device mangler..so what is wrong???

First - good ideo or bad idea, you pointed out neither, just that you had no
problem before. That's just proves it works (which we knew), as for the
resoning for it, that is debatable.

As for no ramdisk software working, what "4 or 5" have you tried?

My suggestions:

You may want to consider this product:
http://www.arsoft-online.com/products/product.php?id=1

Another:
http://www.cenatek.com/product_ramdisk.cfm

You also could try Microsoft's suggestion:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=257405

Or just trudge through this web page:

Have you tried the "experimental" or example ramdisk provided by Microsoft
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=257405)?

Maybe the ramdisk from another version of Windows might work (but I suspect
it will have problems). If you get the floppy image file from
www.bootdisk.com for, say Windows ME, the image it creates on a floppy
includes ramdisk.sys.

There is also http://users.compaqnet.be/cn021945/RAMDisk/RAMDisk.htm, but
then, of course, you would've naturally found that by doing your own Google
search. So you probably already found that one and it was one of those 4 or
5 (you don't know how many?) that you already tried.

In that case no advice. A RAMdisk has still a specific specialist use.
but in general it is *not* a good idea
