I recently bought a HP notebook with MS Windows XP Home
SP1 preinstalled. The program System Information
(Accessories/Sytem Tools/) gives 256Mb "Total Physical
Memory", but in the system properties (My
Computer/General) I see only 192Mb RAM! Is this normal
(and why) or an error?
Thanks.

Apparently, your computer's video adapter shares memory with RAM.
In your case, 256 - 192 = 64MB RAM allocated to the video adapter.
This is normal.
