ram upgrade frequency mismatch issues

Hi,

Problem: I need to upgrade my existing 512RAM (256 X 2) to 1 GB (512
X 2). 1) Do I need to buy the new RAM of the same frequency of the
existing one (233 MHz).
2) Else can I go for higher frequency RAM (like PC2700..with 400 MHz)
available in the market ?
3) What will be the associated issues with such ram upgrade?

I have following configuration on my laptop:

Manufacturer: Sony Vaio
Model : PCG-K33

System Specifications

Type of system Laptops
Bus Architecture PC Card (PCMCIA)
Hard Drive Bus EIDE
Native OS Windows XP Home
CPU Type 3.06GHz Intel Mobile Pentium 4 Processor 532
Model Comments 533MHz FSB, ATI RADEON IGP 345M Chipset
HDD Comments 60.0 GB

System Memory Specifications
Standard Memory 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable)
Maximum Memory 1.0 GB
Memory Expansion 2 sockets
Memory Comments PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs

Thanks

Use branded memory, see memory configerator at eg
Crucial

etc
That way its guarenteed to work with your sys, and you get tech support if

pc2100 = 133mhz x2 = 266mhz
sodimm is probably shorter than regular sdram
unless you are gonna get a new laptop and will be upgrading that with
the ram you will be buying, don't bother paying more than what you
need. desktops don't use sodimms so if you were to move the ram over it
wouldn't fit.
just buy some pc2100 ram
also i'm guessing its non-ecc ram
