RAM Memory

I have a PIII 863MHZ,running XP Pro. It is running on (3)
128MB sticks of memory. Wanting to increase it, I
purchased a 512MB stick. I tried it various combinations,
but the system would not recognize it...It is:
512MB PC133 SDRAM. 168 pin. It is non-ECC, unbuffered,
non-registered, non-parity, and non-PLL. This is not EDO
RAM
Why won't it work? What is the Maximum amount of RAM I
could use? What RAM specs should I be looking for?

Any help is APPRECIATED!

Thanks Cari! D'oh, the one 512 is all it will handle.
Thanks again, you're awesome.
Cheers!

You're welcome.

512mb should make it much better anyway. In fact I only run one PC with
more than 512mb and that's my 2003 Server (with 1gb)... the rest have 512mb
and it seems sufficient.
