RAM EWF and Minlogon

My target configuration is small footprint, no keyboard, boot from CF. I'm using Slobodan's RAM EWF, which is a great solution, but if I try to mix it with Minlogon, I can't get the RAM overlay enabled. I also notice that shutdown fails, complaining I don't have priviledge

If I use Winlogon, my image bloats by 20MB. That seems a large sacrafice just to get EWF working

Is there any way to make the RAM EWF work with a Minlogon

What about shutdown?

Ar eyou using ewfmgr? Any errors?
Or any related errors in FBALog.txt?

How do you reboot your device when you enable EWF?
This may be related to known issue with Minlogon that registry changes do
not persist if you do not provide a graceful shutdown/reboot. Try to use
"xpepm -reboot" (xpepm -shutdown) or "fba -reboot" (fba -shutdown) instead.

It does work with Minlogon.
What about shutdown?

xpepm, fba, ExitWindowsEx API.

Dale,

I don't know if anything is required to say beside what Konstantin said.
I also notice that shutdown fails, complaining I don't have privilege.
shutdown.exe ?

If so use "shutdown -f"

Slobodan

Dale,
FBA log looks good.
:) If you are using my solution you should not see any reference to EWF in fba.log. (This is no good or bad it is how it should be,
anything else is not good)
shutdown.exe gives the priviledge complaint
Use force switch like "shutdown -f"
Or any of other tools like you know xpepm, fba, etc
It does work with Minlogon.
I'm using it on all my minlogon builds, and on different medium types.

Slobodan

Yes, using ewfmgr; no, no errors reported.

Or any related errors in FBALog.txt?

Power cycle no good; shutdown.exe gives the priviledge complaint. I think you've nailed it for me; I'll try fba and/or xpepm.

I'm very glad to hear that!!

I'm developing the XPe option on my own time at night, to provide my company a proof-of-concept alternative to their current Linux
nightmare, so I can't check these things until tonight, but I have every reason to trust your answers - they've been good so far.
