It is a DVD drive which can write disks based upon one of the
several DVD mastering formats. It does not use your memory for
storage. They just had to pick a name different from the rest of
the pack.
Are you sure it is not a RO drive?
RO = Read Only
RW = Read and Write
RAM = Random Access Memory = chip memory
RAMDisk = DOS pseudodrive using part of RAM
It is just the format type of your particular drive e.g. dvd-rw, dvd+rw and
so on.
