Well I managed to get home on Thursday after driving for ten hours around the county for the ambulance service and it was wet wet wet. Never driven through so many lakes on the roads or rivers running down hilly roads. Got diverted several times and the most amazing sight I saw was the river up to the top of the arches down at Levens Hall with the surrounding countryside one big lake.

An I'm sat here listening to the rain as I post.

Am I worried ? Not me . Even though the river Sprint is only a few hundred yards away across the field and looks like it may burst its banks. I'mm on a slight incline so can sit here and watch the flooding without a care in the world. Have a full gas bottle , coal and logs , candles and battery lights for backup. Biggest worry is that water will get into the telephone junction boxes and cut me internet connection. Must say that BT have done well lately with the junction boxes as a few years ago you only had to mention rain and the junction boxes stopped working.

Did I mention that the river Sprint is the best river for canoeing in Britain. You'd need balls of steel to canoe it at the moment. :D

Glad I had my weekend in Lakeland last weekend and not this one, even though I did get a soaking. :)

Aye, it's spread South.

Was going to go out last night but didn't fancy a 20 minute walk along the riverfront in heavy rain and wind.

And it's still the same today, grey, wet and windy. Yuk.

[font=Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]Me wants they are small. I care not at all.
Me debts they are paid when due.
I drive away strife from the ocean of life,
And paddle me own canoe.

And I have no wife to bother me life,
No lover to prove untrue.
The whole day long I laugh with the song
And paddle me own canoe.

So love everybody, trust only the few,
As the world I go travelling through,
And never sit down with a tear and a frown,
But paddle your own canoe.

I rise with the lark from daylight to dark.
I do what I have to do.
I'm careless in wealth. I've only me health
To paddle me own canoe.

And I have no wife to bother me life,
No lover to prove untrue.
The whole day long I laugh with the song,
And paddle me own canoe.

It's all very well to depend on a friend,
That is if you proved him true.
You'll find it better by far in the end
To paddle your own canoe.

To borrow is dearer by far than to buy,
A saying though old still true.
You never will sigh if you only will try
To paddle your own canoe.

Though England has ruled our small little land,
And many's the country too,
Just take my advice and never think twice
To paddle your own canoe.

It's better I say to make your own way,
As the world you go travelling through.
You never will sigh if you only will try
To paddle your own canoe.

Poetry?

Roses are red
Violets are blue
That dogpoo smells
And so do you

The Boy stood on the burning deck
When all around had fled
What a complete and utter idiot

Little Miss Muffet
Sat On a tuffet
Eating her curds and whey
Down came a spider
And sat down beside her
So she ate that too

Here's what it's like over here....although i don't think it even touches cumbria. It's really wild again tonight so it will probably be a replay, and not the one Ireland was hoping for, lol.
