Hello, All!

Is it possible to setup a RAID0 with one IDE drive and the other a SATA
drive?

Thanks.

Colonel Blip.

It isn't happening Colonel. Both drives must be on the RAID controller. RAID
is way over rated anyway.

Depnds on MoBo.
Some Asus MoBos allow RAID using IDE & S-ATA drives

And your experience with raid is?

I ran a pair of SATA Raptors on RAID0 on an Asus P4C800E-Dlx for a month.
Too many things to go wrong for a very negligible benchmark gain. CPU usage
actually went up by 1 or 2%.

It's not just me. It's well known that RAID performance on ATA and SATA
drives have not lived up to early expectations. RAID5 (for example) is
indeed more secure, but require 3 drives. I think money is better spent on a
very fast primary drive and a large inexpensive secondary drive for backing
up data.

Sorry for the long O/T post.
