Raid and Asus DSBF-DE/SAS server board problem

Machine boots Server 2008 fine. As soon as I set BIOS SATA Controller Mode
Option to 'Enhanced' and set the BIOS SATA RAID Enable to 'Enable' the
machine will no longer boot. The Server 2008 program goes through about the
first 20 seconds of the boot procedure and then fails. The computer
restarts and then stops at the Server 'Windows failed to start page' and
gives the boot options. If you just leave it alone, in 30 seconds the
machine tries to boot and gooes through the whole procedure again. Set the
SATA RAID options back and the machine works fine.

I was hoping someone might have experienced this and found the solution or
might have some ideas of what to do. The only thing I have done is update
the BIOS. I need a couple of mirrored disks for data and I was hoping to
use the on-board raid facilities.

Thanks for any help.

Good thought. But I don't understand why, since the boot disk is not part
of any RAID array. I really don't want to redo the O/S since this server is
a host for a number of virtuals running MS EBS. Although the virtual part
would be easy to handle.

I will explore your suggestion and see what I come up with. The more I
think about it the more I think you're probably right. Thanks
