Raid 1 Setup in XP Pro

Hello Yall,
I am wondering if you can setup RAID 1 (Mirroring) on a
system that already has Windows XP loaded on it. Do you
have to format the primary drive in order to setup RAID
1, or can you set it up after the fact? I appreciate any
good suggestions.

Thanks a lot

How are you setting up RAID? Are you going to use software RAID or Hardware
RAID off your motherboard or an add-in card?

I can't comment on software RAID, but with hardware you MUST completely whip
your drive. This is done in the RAID configuration to syncronize the disks.
Also note that it is highly recommended that you use two of the same hard
drive model when running RAID. You can get away with different drives is
some cases, but it's not recommended to do so.
