RAID 1 problem

Hi,

One of the members in a SATA RAID 1 configuration is no longer working. I
have no option to obtain another disk, but need the data from the other
member.

I thought, since this is a mirror, I could just add the working member of
the raid config onto another system (as an extra hdd) and then read data
from it.
Seems not then...

Suggestions?

If I would break the mirror in the fasttrack tool, would the data on the
(then to be former) member be lost?

Thanks for your answer.

Best regards,

Michel

The reason you create a raid mirror is for security. You have two identical
hard drives. If one fails, you should be able to simply work from the
remaining drive. If you are not able to do this, there may be a problem with
your raid controller, in which case, I would just unplug the good drive and
plug it into a non raid controller

Thanks! This is what I expected, and hoped for.
I'll give it a go and post the result!
