Radeon X1800 TV-Out

Does anyone know how to get TV-Out with this card without it interfering
with the desktop? Its an S-Video output to the TV, and DVI to the monitor.
If I leave it so only the monitor is selected, then I can change the
resolution up to my usual 1280x1024. If I put the Clone to the TV, however,
the desktop drops straight to 1024x768, matching the TV resolution, and
refuses to change for anything.

Is this just a problem with the ATI drivers being in beta? I imagine they
wouldn't focus so much on the TV output, as the drivers they've made would
no doubt be for developers working on the Vista platform, but if not.. how
to fix it?

I never did like the ATI drivers for dual outputs, it didn't work too well
on WinXP 32bit either. Actually, theres a lot of things I don't like about
the ATI drivers, the control panel is so unfriendly.

The S-Video (alias TV-Out) standard only supports a 480i 4:3 aspect ratio
displays of images no larger then 1024x768. So for clone mode to work the
desktop cannot be anything larger AFAIK.

Same here. I'm using Windows Vista RC2 and ATI's Catalyst for Windows Vista
RC1. On Windows XP, I can easily put my resolution to 1280x1024 and clone it
on a 1024x768 CRT TV through S-VIDEO and everything works fine. I just have
to move accross the hedges to see what's hidden. I only clone my main display
to watch videos in fullscreen on my TV (done with Catalyst Control Center) so
the hedges thingy doesn't bother me at all. Anyway, now with Windows Vista
RC2, as soon as I activate the clone, Windows turns back to 1024x768. I guess
the best thing to do is wait for the final release of both Windows Vista and
ATI's Catalyst drivers, but if anybody (beside JW who doesn't know shit about
it) knew how to fix this, it would be great.
