Radeon 9700 Pro problem

Richard

I am on my second Radeon 9700 Pro (Powercolor). When I install the
card and power adapter in my system and then turn on the power button,
the system starts to boot and then hangs. The amber power saving
light on the monitor never switches to green to indicate a video
signal is present. I am using a three year old gigabit motherboard
with Athlon 1.333 processor and DDR ram and have a 400 watt power
supply. I realize it is a bit dated by todays standards, but my old
ATI 7200 works fine in this system.

I use a Promise FastTrack 100tx raid controller and I also have a IEEE
1394 card for my external Sony 510UXL DVD writer. I removed the IEEE
card from the system to see if there might be some sort of conflict,
but there was no difference.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

Of course you plugged the power adapter into card? The 9700 Pro is power
hungry. I once had motherboard that could not run 9700 Pro but card works
elsewhere. See if BIOS update is available for your motherboard and latest
chipset AGP drivers are installed. Experiment with BIOS AGP settings. Try
different power supply. Test card in different system. See forums at:
