Radeon 9700 Pro--------->Asus P4C800-E compatibility?

I've got an earlier 9700 Pro (PN 109-94200-11). The manual for the
Asus P4C800-E mobo (page 2-17) states that you should only use PN
xxx-xxxxx-30 revisions. Has anyone used the earlier versions of the
9700 Pro in this mobo? Any issues? If so, any possible fixes? I'd hate
to have to buy a new video card.

Yes me. You have to reduce AGP-Rate from 8x to 4x in display properties
because of instability. There is no noticable performance decrease when
doing this. At AGP 4x it just runs fine on p4c800-e dlx.

Thank you. What kind of issues were you having? I guess this means
I'll need to install the driver "control panel". What version drivers
are you using now? Thank you again.

The computer freezes at 3D-Games with AGP 8x enabled.

Yes, I have installed "Control panel". I changed AGP rate in
DisplayProperties/ATI-SmartGart
What version drivers

Answering my own question.
I setup the P4C800-E mobo with my older Radeon 9700 Pro card (using
old ATI driver version 6.14.01.6255 without the control panel) and all
is apparently well. I've been up and running for approx 6 hours. 3 of
those hours were playing games. Not a single hiccup. Keeping my
fingers crossed. I'll update if any problems.
