Radeon 9200SE - is it any good?

Anybody know if the Radeon 9200SE is any good? I want to ugpgrade the
graphics on my pc that's currently running a Voodoo3 2000 16MB AGP. I'm
looking for a budget video card. If you had a choice between an Asus
Geforce2 MX400 64MB AGP for $40 or a Crucial Radeon 9200SE 64MB AGP for
$53, which is the better deal in terms of performance?

ATI 9100 (or 8500, 8500LE) is a little faster then the 9000, 9200 or 9200SE.

if you ask me both are realy low end and your not going to be happy with
them.
the voodoo 3 was a great card in its day "the wife still has one in here
sys"
your probly on a tight budget and want to spend as little as you can so take
a look at a few low end cards like the GF FX 5200 for $47 from newegg free
shiping.

as for the ati cards i would get this one its $70 but a better card in the

the se is only 64 bit so its slower than then non se card if i rember right.
i personaly would speen the $70 and get a 9600 se

Okay.. to answer the question, the 9200 will be 3 to 4 times as fast as the
GF 2 Mx.

But still comparing to the current topline of cards, it's not much ;-) Best
bang for the buck, as most people around here call it, is a 9600 non-se. SO;
a NORNAL 9600. 9600 Pro even better, but well, expensive ;-)

If you want to stay with really budget, try to find a non-SE version of the
8500, 9000, 9100 or 9200. Fastest are the 8500 and 9100.

If it's possible, you can also try second hand shopping... Many of these
cards are for sale in the circuit. I live in the Netherlands, and i haven't
bought a new thing for quite a while ;-)

(Running P4c 2.6 at 3.25 GHz, dual channel DDR400, Radeon 9500 non-pro 128
MB, running as a 9700 due to the softmod)

Good for what? If to PLAY new games - then no.

When you bought you V3-2000 - it was about $150 new.

The 9200se is pretty much useless for modern gaming.

Given a choice between those two cards, I'd go with the 9200SE. However,
both cards are low-end and are not very good gaming choices if you want to
play games that came out within the last year or so. The 9200SE is the sort
of card I would consider putting in my second computer, which is a PIII-933.
The GeForce2 series is too old for me to seriously consider unless it was
for a two or three year old computer.

ok after reading up some i change my mind. in your price range go with the
lowest end game card. the ati 9200 "not the SE one" or the GF FX 5200 both.
i have the fx 5200 in a back up sys that is set up as dual monitors and i
tryed a few newer games on it and it ran them fine at reduced settings. go
to tom's hardware and check out how they holds up in todays games.

you know your price range better than we do so take a look at tom's and then
hit newegg and make up your mind. as for price watch its good for a few
things but not all dealears are that great so research who you buy from

Both are _really_ low-end chips,
but still much faster than the voodoo.

9200 SE is faster(and has better features), and given only the choices,
I'd say that it's worth the 13 extra bucks.

but with slightly more money you could get a real 9200 with 128-bit memory bus,
and that is much faster/difference between 9200SE and 9200 is bigger than the
difference between mx400 and 9200SE.
