Radeon 7000 AGP VCard

Installed a Radeon 7000 AGP video card in my Dell Dimension XPS T600 system,
using Windows 98SE. It worked fine for the past 7 months, until system hung
giving a blank monitor.

System will not reboot. Switched off & on monitor, which now displays
Self-Test window stating: "This monitor is working. Please check the video
cable and computer." Tried another monitor -- same error message. Reseated
video card.

Can anyone help with dilema?

What does your stystem do? Does it power up at all? Do you have
another video card to try?

Yes, the system powers up, but neither it does not respond to Alt-Ctrl-Del,
nor the "panic" reboot button. Yet, the lights on the 2 CD Drives go on
temporarily. So does the light on the HD, when I push the "panic" reboot
button.

No, I don't have another video card.

Incidentally, the fan in the power supply is on, so is the fan on the
processor. There are no burning smells, nor swollen capacitors. The system
started to act this way after it was set to turn off monitor, and place
system in standby mode.

Also try a new VGA (or DVI) cable. Maybe cleaning the card's AGP interface
could also help. Other than that, either your mainboard or the card is
fried. Try borrowing a card from a friend and check it.
