QuickTime Problems

I installed QuicjTime on my PC for an appliaction my kids use and as a
result, IE6 is no longer playing mpg files when I click on a link. Anyone
else run into this problem or can make suggestions as to how I may fix this?

QuickTime re-associate mpg file with itself. Right click on mpg file and
select Open With. Then select the program that you originally to associate
with mpg files.
 
Nope that's not it.
Windows media player palys all *.mpg and *.mpeg from my hard drive. When I
click on a link to these in IE6 I get the symbol that indicates I am missing
the plug-in, in this case, Windows Media Player, even though it IS
installed....
