Quicktime file associations

When I try to download a podcast, Quicktime automatically opens and, as I
don't have the Pro version, the only thing I can do is listen but not
download anything into my laptop.

In Quicktime Preferences/Files type I unticked absolutely everything I could
but still now there is no way I can download a podcast anymore.

If someone has the solution for this problem (other than uninstall
Quicktime, which is the only one I found, so far) I would be very grateful.

Never mind. I solved it. I let the whole podcast completely charge and,
instead of listening to it when it opens, I just save the page and it saves
the file as an MP3.

With Opera (www.opera.com) in the preferences you can select to
download whatever extension you want rather than open it.

Maybe also in FireFox and IE but I've never really used those.

That's interesting. I've looked in Firefox 2 and IE 7 but didn't find the
setting that would allow me to do so.

Holding down shift while clicking on Download just opens the (quicktime)
downloading window in a new browser window.
