quicktime addon breaks ie7

Sort of. As long as I have the quick time addon installed in IE7, I can play embedded wav files on the web. At a minor cost.
When done browsing with ie7, closing it causes a error popup that ie7 hasfailed, and then it reboots ie7, as long as I care to play this stupid game of close, and watch the machine restart IE7 every time I close it.

I just hit cancel now, but the other option is it sends the exact same stats off to M$. M$ comes back and tells me remove addon's until I find the problem. what I want is a fix that doesn't choke on the quick time addon.

I know the problem, and removing the addon isn't a satisfactory fix in myopinion. If I removed everything that chokes on Vista, I'd be stuck playing solitaire and watching the gadget system monitor.

Hi,

It's Apple's problem, not Microsoft's. They know the requirements for their
add-on and apparently are not bringing their software up to speed yet (you
are sure you have the latest version, aren't you?). A solution needs to come
from Apple and until it happens your choices are limited to either not using
it or putting up with the symptoms.

Well the thing is this problem didn't exist b4 the crash. And it seems I'm the only 1 complaining about the problem. Which is why I posted. Actually there's a 3rd party in the soup now. HP is releasing [along withDell] machines with Vista installed, and HP takes care of a lot of the problems.
But nothing here tells me how to fix this problem.
I've had updates that screwed things up. the BIOS update the other day for 1.

I got HP and they are not going to help you in this matter.

But nothing here tells me how to fix this problem.

---------

The problem cannot be fixed for the QT addon, because it's not Vista
compliant software. You install it. You install it at your own risk.

I've had updates that screwed things up. the BIOS update the other day for
1.

-------

This is not the same thing.

There are other list as well you can find and check.

If it's not on the list, then it's at your own risk, until the software
vendor makes the software Vista compatible..
