Quicken backup to CD

I'm new, so pardon me if I duplicate a question already answered somewhere
that I didn't find. I have been using Quicken Deluxe 2005 for more than a
year, backing up to a CD via the "XP temporary CD burning folder," wherever
that is. Now, suddenly, when I back up Quicken tells me "file backed up
successfully." It doesn't say wherre and doesn't show me the files to be
written. I have reinstalled Quicken - to no avail. What has happened and
what can I do about it? And where is that temporary folder, anyway? I guess
if I could find it I could drag the Quicken files to the CD drive.

I said I'm new at this site, but maybe I'm missing more than I thought. I
have been to that Microsoft page, but can't figure out how to copy the backup
files to the CD if I can't find the backup files. Where are they going now
if not to the temporary CD burning folder that used to come up automaticaly,
but no longer does? The files to be written to CD no longer appear -- only
the message "Backup completed successfully." It doesn't say to where.

John,

In Quicken's Backup window, do you have a "Use Windows CD Writing Wizard"?
I've found that in my Quicken 2006, if checked, I get the temporary storage
thing that you might have gotten in the past. But if the wizard is
unchecked, my Quicken backups go straight to the CD and I find this easier
for backups to my CD-RWs.

Thanks for your note. The Wizard box is checked and I still get just "gile
backed up successfully." It worked the way it's supposed to until last
Thursday. Then this began. I jhave checked the writing drive and inserted a
newly erased disk which, I just noticed, is named "InCD," the writing
program. Maybe I'm supposed to rename it or format it again or something?
Still bewildered.

Darn, too bad. Have you tried backing up with the wizard turned off in
Quicken? If not, is there a reason you avoid doing that? I ask since I back
up my Quicken with the Windows Wizard turned off in Quicken.

Are you backing up on CD-RWs or CD-Rs? Wouldn't/Couldn't there be a
problem on CD-Rs if the file names already exist from a previous backup?

I just got a new laptop and use quicken. I too cannot get to the files
backed up. I save to my cd burning drive and get the message about them
going to the temporary file. I never get the balloon notice at the bottom of
the screen to which allows me to go to the CD writing wizard and copy them
onto my disc. I can use the feature on my pc, no problem, but not on the
laptop. Talk about frustrating!!

I have been having the same problem as John. However, this tip, i.e.,
clearing the Wizard box on the backup window, worked for me. Thank you, Craig!
