Zanza

hey all, had a quick problem that has been bugging me for
a long time, hope someone can help me. I have Windows XP,
and as my Internet browser I use Explorer. Everything is
working fine except there is this one nagging thing that
is irritating me. Some sort of virus or something or
another has deposited links to some rather disturbing
material on one of my menus, and I do not know how to
remove it. It does no matter what website I am at, when I
right click my mouse for options such as Save File etc,
these links are just glaring there. If anybody knows how
I access where these links are stored and how to remove
them, I would be eternally greatful. Thank you.

Hi Zanza,

You can remove the right-click context menu in Internet Explorer using these
steps:

1. Click [Start] [Run] type [REGEDIT]
2. Navigate to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\MenuExt.
Each subkey of this key represents one menu item. Many will include an
ampersand (&) to define the underlined key associated with the command.

Highlight the key you want to delete (for example,
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\Zoom &In).
Choose Export from the Registry menu and export that branch to a file.

Additionally: Run Ad-Aware to eliminate the spyware products from the
system, which is creating the problem. Download Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. Dont forget to "update" it.

Ramesh, would you care to explain why items on the context menu need to be
removed?

It's bcoz the questioner has asked that.
