Quick Parts / Autotext Delete Entry

I'm new to 2007 and have used AutoText in the past. In trying to set up an
auto text entry I mistakenly made it a 'general' entry and wish to delete it
but I can't find any help on how to delete a quick parts entry.

You don't have to delete it (unlike AutoText in earlier versions of Word);
you can just change its category.

Click Insert > Quick Parts > Building Blocks Organizer. Select your AutoText
entry from the list and click the Edit Properties button to open a small
dialog. Open the Categories dropdown there, and either select another
existing category or create a new category.

I had already went ahead and set up my paragragh as an Autotext so now I have
two identical entries and wish to delete the one that appears under the
general heading when I open Quick Parts. I don't know why MS had to revise
what was already simple method for autotext and now have to drill down
through Quick Parts and Building Blocks to get to autotext.

To delete a building block: Click Insert tab | Quick Parts | Building Blocks
Organizer. Select the one that you want to delete, and then press the Delete
button. Click Close to exit the dialog box. If/when you are prompted to save
the template where the building block was saved, choose to do so.

Maybe I need to re-phrase my question as I see what you are saying. When I
open Quick Parts I see the original entry I did not label as an Autotext
entry. It appears under the general tab and I can't delete this. I can email
a screen shot if you wish.

When you click Insert tab | Quick Parts, you can right-click any of the
entries listed and click Organize and Delete. Word displays the Building
Blocks Organizer with that particular entry selected. Just click Delete to
get rid of it. Alternatively, you can click Edit Properties, rename it and
specify a different gallery.
