Quick Launch

Does XP have a quick launch tool bar at the bottom of the screen next to the
start button like Vista does?

Yes. It's optional in both operating systems.

Sorry, I meant to add the following:

And, in XP, it doesn't have to be at the bottom of the screen nor next
to the start button. Like other toolbars, its location is optional,
and if the task bar is unlocked, it can be dragged off the task bar
and docked on any side of the screen you want it on. One configuration
that I like is to keep the task bar at the bottom of the screen, but
dock the quick launch bar on the left side of the screen.

Yes, it does.

To find it, right-click on a blank area of the Windows XP Taskbar and
select Toolbars from the context menu.

Can you add the desk top icon to the quick launch tool bar? I find this icon
very handy.

Create a text file in Notepad as follows:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Save it as Show Desktop.scf then drag it to the Quick launch bar.
Or just click on this link:

Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Also note that you can do this with a keyboard shortcut: the
combination of the Windows key + D or the Windows key + M.

When I right clicked on task bar and went to tool bars and clicked quick
launch the desktop icon was already there. When I tried to merge the
registry file I created it would not allow me, but after rebooting the quick
launch bar was still there. Thanks for all your input anyway.
