Quick Launch

Hi everyone

The Quick Launch toolbar seems to have a 'natural' width of 3 icons. I
know you can resize it how you like and lock the taskbar, but is there
any way to change the natural width to match the number of shortcuts I
have in it?

Hi Tim,

There is no "natural" width. Generally a newly created QL toolbar will be
long enough to display the items that exist in it (the folder located at
C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch) at the time of creation. You already have stated how
to change this. I am curious as to why you are asking this question - do you
find that you need to recreate the QL toolbar frequently?

I too have a problem with my Quick Launch tool bar. I placed it in the start
tool bar under the section that has the active programs. I usually cannot
add shortcuts to the QL toolbar. The toolbar is unlocked. It shows the
vertical black bar when I drag an icon from the desktop as though it were
going to add the shortcut but when I release the mouse button there is
nothing there.

I did once it worked but not as I expected. The vertical bar showed up but
no item was there. Then later on (maybe after I restarted the computer) the
icon showed up. I also cannot re-arrainge icons in the QL toobar.

I examined my files/folder with windows explorer and I do not have the path
that you show. After C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\ I do not have an
"application data" folder. I have "cookies", "desktop", "favorites", "My
Documents", "Start Menu", "user data", and "WINDOWS". Another strange thing
is that the <user name> is not the name that is displayed in the start menu.

Well so much for my first problem.
