Quick Launch shortcuts location

Just out of interest does anyone know why the Quick Launch shortcuts in
a user profile are stored in the 'AppData - Roaming - Microsoft -
Internet Explorer' folder ?
The connection between Quick Launch and Internet Explorer is not obvious
to me other than IE being one of my shortcuts. This not unique to
Vista.

I think Quick Launch began with the Active Desktop update for IE4, and the
Quick Launch folder has been a subfolder of Microsoft\Internet Explorer,
somewhere under the (User Name) directory, ever since. It may be Internet
Explorer-related, because the shortcuts in that folder only require one
click to open (from the Toolbar), much like a link in IE, despite having
double-click the default for you other Desktop shortcuts.

Thanks for that Dean. I wondered if it was historical but didn't know
why.
