Permission for Internet Explorer

I have a new Dell computer with Vista Home P pre-installed. I have been
installing hardware, programs and configuring Vista. Likely made an error
some place, my problem is where.

I have three Internet Explorer shortcuts. Pre-installed shortcuts on the
Desktop and in the Quick Launch Toolbar. One shortcut I added to the system
control panel for my modem. I am currently using my administrator account.

When I use the Desktop Inernet Explorer shortcut, I get an Vista window
about an unkown progam and stating that the publisher of iexplore.exe was
not known. The window allows me to cancel or allow. This warning started
yesterday. When I use either the Intenet Explorer shortcut in the Quick
Launch Toolbar or the one for the modem system control panel, Internet
Explorer opens with no Vista warning window.

Suggestion on where I should look for a solution.

The thing is, it would not matter where Internet Explorer shortcuts are
placed in the system, its IE. If you are experiencing problems with plug
ins, I would just reset Internet Explorer settings. In IE, click Tools >
Options > Advanced (tab) > under 'Reset Internet Explorer Settings' click
the 'Reset' button.

While a full 'Reset' is more of a last resort, your suggestion lead me to
re-checking the shortcut properties by comparing the setting in the shortcut
with a problem and one without. In the shortcut with a problem, in the
Shortcut tab, Advanced I had checked the box to Run as a Administrator
{while using a administrator account}. I the other shortcut, the box was not
checked. I cleared the box in the problem shortcut and the problem was
corrected.

As I had expected in my configuring Vista I had made an error.

Thank you,

A reset would have not caused any disasturous effects, just that you would
most likely have redownload any necessary plugins depending on the websites
you visit.
