Quick Launch listed as a running program

Thought I would try a new thread.

Quick Launch is listed as a running program from my Task Manager. If I end
this task, the explorer.exe (desktop UI) goes away. And then comes back -
along with the Quick Launch" task. If I select the "Go to process" option
from the "Quick Launch" task in the task manager, it takes me to the
explorer.exe process. There is only one explorer.exe on my PC. But I have two
of these Quick Launch listed in the Task Manager Applications tab. I do get a
pop up saying that I was closing a toolbar, but it is not the quick launch
toolbar in XP, because I say yes and it end the program, and the XP toolbar
remains.

Sactechie,

Here is a fix found in google groups. I have quoted the bit that you need
to fix your problem. You can find the entire thread here:

http://snipurl.com/1e1if

Here is the Quoted Section of the hopeful answer to your problem:

Procedure followed:
1. Hid the .scf files Show Desktop & View Channels. Restart... no
change.
2. Unchecked Quick Launch toolbar on Taskbar. Restart... no
change.
3. Renamed c:\WINDOWS\Application data\microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch to Quick Launch Old, and added a new Quick
Launch folder. Restart... no change.
4. Did the above order, 1-3, in reverse order without restarts,
checked CAD, and, surprise, explorer displayed!
5. Restart. "explorer" is listed in the close program dialog box
and NOT Quick Launch!

Now anyone reading this thread is rewarded, and wiser.

Good Luck,
