Quick Format vs Full Format

I did a quick format (after deleting my system partition) and wonder if
there is a difference between quick & full format. In particular, would the
quick format leave any data behind (i.e. registry info)? I have been
battling a strange phenomenon and thought that a clean install would correct
the problem. Now, after reprogramming my entire system, I see the same
problem. I had my backup data on my D: and disconnected when I deleted the
partition, formatted (NTFS) and then reinstalled the XP OS. The system (C: &
D:) has scanned clean before and after the reinstall and I have no
indication of any problems.
My sys info:
Win XP Home - fully updated on a Asus M2N, AMD 64 X2 dual layer 4200 CPU,
1024 MB DDR-2 RAM, WD 74 GB SATA 150 10,000 RPM (system drive 0), WD 80 GB
IDE 7,200 RPM (D: backup), ATI Radeon X1300 PCIE w 512 DDR RAM. NOD32 2.7
AV, Counterspy 2.1.857 updated

Your registry would be clean after a clean install, even with the quick
format.

Rather than worry about whether or not you are dealing with leftovers,
tell us more about this strange problem you've been battling.

I have just spent the day doing a complete reinstall (deleted the partition
and quick formatted the NTFS drive) of my OS (WinXP Home) due to a strange
phenomenon which I could find no answer to, or even the faulting application
(pprekop.exe) I did a complete search of my system and registry and found no
sign of any such application or registry reference. I don't have any reason
to believe it's associated with CS but I'm otherwise totally baffled and
looking for any possible solution. I had this situation before I formatted &
reinstalled the OS and could find no cause. The event shows up in my event
viewer as follows:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 1/17/2007
Time: 7:55:33 PM
User: N/A
Computer: PREFERRE-F23286
Description:
Faulting application pprekop.exe, version 4.2.0.172, faulting module
ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2182, fault address 0x10017bed.

I found that my Party Poker program was causing the error to be logged by
watching my event viewer at the precise time that I opened the game. Party
Poker techs (after several emails quoting and submitting the report) replied
that the problem was in my OS and so I finally spent the day today trying to
eliminate that as the cause. Needless to say, I'm frustrated and curious how
an application that is nowhere to be found anywhere on my system can cause
the error shown above. I have deleted Party Poker and can live with that ...
but that doesn't put my mind to rest in this matter. Maybe a sledge hammer
would be more effective to get this out of my brain.

Don, u are not alone...
I've been having the same "pprekop.exe" problem, no solution to be found so
far.
My PartyPoker client causes my computer to bluescreen, sometimes when
logging onto PartyPoker, sometimes when playing, sometimes when doing nothing.
Always without any prior notice.

Nothing to be found in any log (except the same entry as you have described
when starting the PartyPoker client) and minidumps containing no further info.

I've been thinking that maybe there is somewhat related to
video/graphics-drivers or similar but as said, no further info to be found.
(Seems like it is a rather isolated and not-so-widely-spread-problem)

One question: I've been running CCleaner and Regseaker for quite som time
(removing unneccesary registry entries etc.) This may or may not have
something to do wit it? Have you done it as well?

Lo All,

Got the exact same problem. I installed partypoker both on my laptop and pc.
When running party poker on my pc for a while it causes to bluescreen usually
when i'm playing at a table, my laptop doesnt have the problem. I tried
disabling the party poker plugins that are installed to your internet
explorer. (don't know the way to get there in english because i got a dutch
internet explorer) which i thought solved the problem for a while. The
problem however is still there and getting really annoying. I hope somebody
can tell me how to solve this problem..
