Because of some problems recently, WinXP Pro was re-installed (over the
old WinXP). The programs installed before the re-installation of Win XP
were still there. I can run lots of programs without re-installing. That
means that I can run programs without bothering registry. Then, why do we
need registry? Please enlighten me. Satoshi

There is a big difference between a clean install (reformat) and a repair
install which is what it seems that you did.
