Question, repairing ie 6

Continuation of prev question 10/21 re: default browser question

I apparently hosed up the ie program by installing and removing foxfire. I
have tried all the suggested fixes (well most of them) and I tried restoring
win xp to a prev restore point. IE 6 is now my default browser and works
fine for browsing. The problem is that I can not set a shortcut to a web
page that works. The short cut is set but it does not do anything. I have
read the posted information on repairing ie and am now totally confused. My
next plan is to remove sp2 via add and remove prog. and reinstall sp2. I can
not download sp2 sence I already have it installed. Any suggestions befor I
create more problems for my self would be appreciated.

Always reply to your original thread, Roger.

In it, you received three (3) replies/suggestions. Which haven't you tried?

1. You click on a link and an IE window doesn't even open:

http://www.oehelp.com/ielnk.aspx.

2. You click on a link and an IE window opens but it doesn't load:

You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens After You
Click on a Link

(Re-register all DLLs listed in the above KB article)

3. Installing the latest Cumulative Patch for IE may solve the problem as a
side-effect. Check in at Windows Update.
