Question on slide show

I used power point 2007 to make a user manual. I added buttons on the sheet
to go to different slides. The problem is I try to save it in different
formats so that it will only navagate with the function buttons (or it would
only open in slide show), but you can click on any part of the slide and it
jumps from slide to slide getting out of order. How do I make this only
change slides using smart buttons that are linked to other slides.
