Question on Outlook Connector for Windows Live / Hotmail accounts

When you use Outlook in a corporate setting, with a mailbox on an Outlook
Exchange Server:

If you use Outlook Connector, and it essentially adds a hotmail account to
your local Outlook (client) software, is any data or information from that
account ever trasferred to, via, or stored on the Microsoft Exchange Server
that hosts your primary mailbox/account?

Thanks,

Jake

Your Hotmail (Outlook Connector) account message store and your Exchange
account message store are kept separate and reside on different servers.
In other words, mail received in your connector account will not be
received through your exchange account. I have found though that when
sending mail it seems to use the Exchange account, outbox and sent mail
folders so I presume mail sent is passing through Exchange rather than
connector.

No, sending mail through the connector should not use the exchange acct at
all. If you use an ost (cached mode) you may see it sitting in that outbox
for a few seconds but it should be properly moved to the connectors sent
folder and the sent mail will have the correct From address.

I'm pretty sure that is not my experience Diane but rather than rely on
my memory I will reconfirm tomorrow when I'm in an environment where
I'm using that configuration and can test it. In your set-up is the
Exchange account set as the default email account?

Thank you all so much for chiming in on this. I really appreciate the help.

I'm not sure if your question was directed to me or to Diane Kevin, but in
my case, my exchange account is in fact my default email.

My question was for Diane as I think I may be seeing something different
happening than her, but I want to reconfirm that as I may be mistaken.
I will give things a try tomorrow and report back on whether in my
configuration messages being sent from my MSN\WLHotmail accounts appear
to be going out through Connector or Exchange.

Sorry all - I meant to ask another question and forgot. Hopefully pasting it
on here is ok....

The whole reason i embarked on this endeavor was to come up with a
relatively painless way to allow my wife to see what I've got in my main,
Exchange calendar. As I don't believe there's any easy, direct way to give
her access to it (It would probably be a violation of my company rules to
allow her to login using my OWA, and I'd just prefer not to go down that
road), I figured that I would use Outlook Connector, and then copy/paste all
of my Exchange calendar events into the Connector / hotmail calendar. As you
all probably know, however, there doesn't seem to be any obvious 'en masse'
way to easily transfer the events inside of Outlook. As a temporary
substitute, i've exported my calendar as an excel file, and then (I think...)
pasted into my web-based hotmail interface.

I'd obviously prefer a less cumbersome (and less forgettable) way to do
this. Anyone have a suggestion or workaround?

Thanks much!

Just wanted to report back that Diane is correct and I was wrong.
Connector does send mail out through it and not through the exchange
account.
