question-olk directory

I have a computer on a corporate network that has no path to the OLK directory

the path in the registery is listed as c:\doc and setting\user\loc
settings\temporary internet files. It does not have the added olkxxx
directory listed.

If I browse the temporary internet files it contains only cookies and a few
cached IE files...no documents.

My question is are they being saved, and if so where. It seems that no olk
directory is being generated. Is this controlable by Outlook, I dont think I
have seen a setting relating to it in the past.

The location could have been modified by your email admin so that the folder
is cleared when you clear your Temporary Internet files.
The setting is only controllable via the registry. Deleting the key will
generate a new one with a reference to an OLK folder as soon as you open
your first attachment from within Outlook. Verify with your system admin
what the intention of the change was.

You can't see the files because an Explorer extension kicks in and forces
the display to only show the urls, time, .etc that is relevant to Internet
Explorer. You can see the files if you are comfortable in working with a
DOS prompt or some sort of 3rd party file explorer.

Other than that, I have never seen a setup truncate the location. Since you
are working in a corporate environment, I am guessing that the pc support
gods have configured it this way for a reason. Have you talked with them to
determine why and/or explain what issues you are having?

There is no system policy in place because the olk directory exisits on any
other machine that I have looked on. I didn't think to look in DOS for the
files within temp internet, I can try that.

I will delete the reg key and see if this recreates the olk folder.
