I know that SP2 is expected for release in mid-2004, but I just want to know
if there is any mentionable system changes made.

I know that with Apple, their SPs include numerous updates and new features,
but will SP2 have any also?

I personally, would like some speech recognition. Apple has had it since OS
9.x, and I loved being able to tell the computer, "go to sleep."

Any info concerning SP2 will be released when SP2
actually becomes available sometime next year.

Obviously. I was just wondering if there's been any credible rumours.

Rumors, by definition, are unsubstantiated speculation. A "credible rumor"
would be a contradiction in terms.

Hi comp guy,

I asked a question similar to this earlier, and Mike Brannigan (MS) replied
that SPs really only "fix" bugs, security holes and contain patches to boost
performance. There's no way a SP will contain new features; unless
absolutely necessary (like set program access with SP1).

But it would be nice if they could see their way clear to include a spell
checker...won't happen of course but it would be nice.

Quite a few free ones on the Internet.....do a Google search.

Yes, I know, I always recommend one of these two when someone complains
about OE's spell checker not working...and that's almost a daily experience!
That's why I suggest the MS include a spell checker...I believe Netscape has
one. Like I say, it won't happen so long as there's a chance some people will go
out and buy Word or Office just to get a spell checker. Consider this just a
little nudge to try to get MS to include one in SP-2...I know, there are two
chances of that happening = slim and none.

Netscape AND Thunderbird, and, I think, Mozilla all now have a spellcheck as
standard!

And this spell checker (like the program itself) is of course available in
all the languages we have IE/OE in?? At the same time? Now there's usually
no more than a wewk or maybe two between 1st release of en-us version
before the fi version comes out. I wonder how long we would have to wait if
there should be a spell checker for OE6 in XPsp2???

You had a problem with Bootvis. What was the solution?

Nadda. I used Recovery Consol to delete the file and folder, but it came
back.
msconfig didn't have anything in it relating to Bootvis, and the registry
didn't seem to have anything in it.

I'm going to get Norton Utilities to scan for broken reg keys and values.
If that doesn't work I'm going to do a clean install of Windows.

Luckily I have all my files on a different partition in case I ever needed
to do a clean install again, so it's just a matter of reinstalling Windows,
programs, and drivers. Should only take a few hours.
