Question about sound volume in freeware products

Hi Everyone,

I'm running Win2k and using both Media Player Classic and 1by1. I set
the volume control in Windows Control Panel to the halfway point on the
slider. I normalized my entire MP3 collection to 89.9 volume using
MP3Gain.

Here is the issue: When I listen to anything through Media Player
Classic, I have to slide the volume control on Media Player Classic's
interface all the way to the highest setting, and then reach over and
increase the volume on the speakers using the knob.

When I listen to anything through 1by1, I have to slide the volume
control on 1by1's interface to nearly zero and use the speaker's
control knob to decrease the volume.

Media Player Classic plays way too low, and 1by1 plays way too high.

How can get my computer to produce all sounds at the same volume level?

Thanks!

Use programs written at the same level.

Seriously, it's due to the programs not being written the same. One
author has the volume maxed out and the other one has it turned down.

You (or someone) could probably write a program that normalized the
speaker volume without killing the dynamic range, by twiddling with
the volume control programatically.
