Question about Sites / Subnet

My organization is thinking about creating a few sites in
our AD forest. Right now, we have everything in one site,
though we do have some geographically disperse locations.
My question is, do we have to enter every subnet on our
network under each site once we start creating these?
Right now, there are no subnets entered under our single
site (which is the renamed default first site). Once we
create a second site, then a third, etc., will it be
feasible to just enter the subnets on the new sites and
not the first site? I ask this because we would have to
enter dozens of subnets in our current site and we would
like to avoid that. Thanks.

You only need to create each subnet once within the site that it belongs to.
So if Site1 has 3 subnets, Site2 has 4, and Site3 has 6, you would create
each one once within the appropriate site.

Hope this helps,

Laura

Thanks for the reply, but let me clarify my question: our
current site, that contains everything in the forest, does
not have any subnets defined in it. We may add some
subnets because we have some remote locations coming into
our forest. We will add subnets to those sites, but not
to our current site. The reason we don't want to add the
subnets to the current site is because there are so many.
Therefore, I'm wondering if things will break if we have
subnets defined under our 2nd, 3rd, etc., sites, but not
our first site, which we use now.
