Hello,
when I use system restore, another restore point is made
called "3:21:50 restore operation". (for example)

If days later I do another system restore and choose the above
"3:21:50 restore operation" as the checkpoint to go back to, is the
system restored to the way it was *prior* to the original restore
above or *after* it?

Dave

It restores to what it was *at* that time. Neither before, nor after.

Good luck,

Ed

Once you restore using this utility. The date from which
you are restoring for instance 3:21:50 is now your new
point of reference or any other AFTER. You cannot go
back to a restore point prior to the 3:21:50 date. That
information has been replaced by the 3:21:50 restore.
Hope that answers it for you

I'm not sure I understand. Earlier checkpoints (prior to
3:21:50) are still available and can be selected.

I'm still not sure about the answer to my original question
regarding the "3.21.50 restore operation" checkpoint.

That checkpoint was made when a system restore was done.
But does it represent the system immediately *prior*
(a kind of "backup" of the way it was)
to doing the restore, or immediately after. (where it represents
the new restored state) - It must be one or the other.

Because in theory, that restore point could be a "backup" of the
way the system was prior to doing the restore. If you go back into
system restore there is a choice to "undo" the last restore.
Perhaps the two tie together?

Prior. When you do a restore, it makes that point first, so you can
unwind things, then does the operation requested. So it is available as
'undo last restore operation' (preferable) or by going direct
