Question about outgoing emails

I have noticed recently that when I send emails the number being sent is
showing to be more than the number I intend to send. Example, earlier this
morning I replied to one email, when I hit send/recieve the status showed 2
emails being sent. This does not seem nornal to me and was wondering if
there is anything I need to do to change this. I have spysweeper and virus
scan and everything is normal. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
