Please help! Any help woud be appreciated!!

I just bought a new computer that came with Vista Home Premium. It had a
trial for 60 days for Microsoft Office. I ran that and pulled up the
Activation Assistant.

There are two steps. It says for the first one to click and it will give
you your trial activation key online. Then once you have that you can click
the second step which says it will launch microsoft office and you will enter
your trial key.

When I do that however, it gives me this message:
The Microsoft Office Activation Assistant was unable to launch your 2007
Microsoft Office release. Please re-enter your selection or open Microsoft
Office from the directory. If the error continues, go to
www.microsoft.com/office/pctrial2007 for additional information.

I have looked all over the microsoft web-site and can't find ANYTHING to
help me. It's so frustrating!!! Especially when you have to PAY to contact
any support services..

Any help would be greatly appreciate!! :) I am in grad school with tons of
papers to write and would love to be able to use 2007 for a while instead of
works...

Thanks in advance.

Since you are in grad school, I find it difficult to believe that the
University does not offer an academic license for enrolled students which
covers office 2007 suite. Even if they don't offer it free, there usually is
a significant discount for students when you purchase under any academic
plan.

As far as activation of a trial version, you should not have to activate a
trial. you are 'given' 60 days default in which you do not need to activate,
just use it for the 60 days. Anything over 60 days is no longer a trial, you
are playing with it.

The Pre-installed trial version does require activation, I missed that part
in first reply. A visit to the web link you provided shows 2 methods of
activation. One from desktop and another from start menu.

There may be regional restrictions that come into play. They do offer a
contact link to troubleshoot problems. It should be fee free.
