Question About Installing A New Mb

I want to install a new mb with a P4/2.66GHz in my actual
machine. How can I do the installation without having to
format the actual hd I'm using and losing all the
information? The mb I'm using right now is a M810 with an
AMD AThlon XP 2000+ and want to change it for a M266A
with an Intel P4/2.66GHz

Normally a Repair Installation is required to detect the new hardware
after motherboard replacement:

Data should be safe, back-up important data just in case.

If Windows XP is OEM, the above may not be possible.

Thanks for your quick reply, Jupiter Jones. I will follow
the instructions from the link you submitted. My Windows
XP is not OEM.
