Question About .BIN File

Hi:

I just noticed a file named TRACE_BOOT+DRIVERS_1_1.BIN which is 223 MB in
size located in my Documents & Settings/Tom folder. It was created
8/28/2007.

What is it, do I need it, and/or can I delete it?

Thanks

Looks like an 'ISO' image - a copy of a CD onto the hard drive in a format
that makes it easier to pass around and in some ways - to burn to CD again.
Did you ever create such a CD/DVD?

I have XP SP2 (MCE2005) and played around sometime back with trying to make
a DVD of a recorded TV show.

Do you think that this is associated with it and if so I should be able to
delete it? I do not recall copying a DVD specifically to my HD.

Thanks

It is confusing but in this case you could try to open it with a media
player program such as Videolan VLC and see what happens.
http://www.videolan.org/ . ".bin" files are sometimes binary files
associated with program compiling and execution as well. When you install
Videolan VLC player by default it sets itself to open ".bin" files . If it
is an intermediate file associated with program installation I would just
delete it.

Based upon what Shenan said I deleted the file, as I feel that it was
associated with my creating DVD's sometime back. I thought that I had
cleaned up all those files because they were so large.

Have had adverse reaction since deletion.

Thanks for the replies.

Typo error, as I meant too say no adverse reaction. Sorry....

What "adverse reaction" have you had?

We are glad to hear you have resolved the problem (without any adverse
reaction).
