Query information from Excel spreadsheet

Hello,
Is there any way to use frontpage, or just HTML in general, to run a query
on an Excel spreadsheet, and return the data? We are trying to create an
online catalog, and already have a large spreadsheet with all of our pricing
information in it. We would like to do something like Excel's VLOOKUP
function on our website, without having to create another type of database.
This would also allow us to easily change our prices in Excel, and allow them
to show on the website. We don't want to just publish the spreadsheet,
because many of our target audience will not have excell installed on their
computers, so I believe that it would be difficult for them to view the
catalog. Any suggestions on the best way for us to do what we are trying to
do?

Any helpful information would be great. Just as a side note, I have a lot
of experience with Excel, and can do basic HTML coding, but I do not have any
experience with programming, ASP, PHP, or the like, which is why I am trying
to find an easier way to do this, without having to learn any of the other
systems.

Thanks
Jim

Your best option is to use a pre-written shopping cart application or if no sales are involved, move
the date into a Access database and then use the FP database components to display.

To use Access requires that your site is hosted on a Windows IIS web server with ASP / ASP.net
support enable for your account.

Thank you for the reply.
We are not looking to use a checkout system, only to make an online catalog,
so that the prices can be seen. We have an online store with checkout now,
but most of our clients are old school, and half of them would rather paper
catalogs, and the other half only view the website for prices anyhow, then
just call their orders in. In the 3 years or so that the store has been
running, I think we have only had one order placed through the store, so we
figured it would be best to just make it a catalog. But we are trying to
find the best way to do that.
I am pretty sure that I can learn enough about Access to make the database,
and makeit do what I need it to do, but is there anywhere I can find a
tutorial on how to get FP to run the queries and display the information that
I need displayed?

Thanks again
Jim

If customer can see the pricing, and then call you with an order, why do you now want to create a
completely new system/catalog?

Have you look at why your customers are not purchasing from your online store?
