query about DVDRW set to Master or Slave ??

Just a query really. I got a DVD+/-RW burner yesterday and installed it as
the 'slave' since i already had a CDRW in there on 'master'. I burned a DVD
and the DVDRW drive wouldnt read it.

I tried it in a DVD player and the disc was fine. However, when i made the
DVDRW drive the 'master' and the CDRW the 'slave', everything seems to be OK
now, the DVDRW now reads discs !!

Why is it that the DVDRW needs to 'master', as it doesn't say anything in
the manual about this ?

cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,

It's odd really, but some drives have a preference as to their location and
settings in the system - this has been in existence for quite some time. You
simply need to find a configuration for the system that works, and it sounds
like you already have.
