Qualsys test for I.E.

Hi Roger :)

Just as a side note, please correct the time on your computer clock. You are
showing to be several hours ahead, your post time indicating 11:18 PM this
date. This can cause various problems, one being with your Certificates.
Every Certificate has an expiration and start date. When your clock or date
is off, even a little ways, it may think the Certificates are not valid. It
also keeps your post at the top of the list here in error. So, be sure
your date and time are correct. :)

As to your problem....I am not sure if these will apply in your case, but,
you might try them and see if they help:

You can do a repair of IE. If you need instructions with this, post back
with the version of Windows you are using. :)

Hope this helps

Hi Roger :)
This clock thing is very recent because my recent outgoing emails show the
correct time. I just sent one to myself (T-Bird) and I'm exactly 12 hours
off, like these NG posts. I'll look at what you've posted about IE and
likely post back but first I want to take care of this. Can you provide
directions or a link (OS = win98, and I can post it to that NG if nec.).

The time change thing can happen and we don't even notice it. Just be sure
to correct it so that your Certificate validation will remain current.

Your fine here with the IE problem, however, you can access the Win98 group
here microsoft.public.win98.internet.browser. I have provided the
information below for repairing Win98, however, I suggest that you try the
other information I provided first, as a repair should normally be your last
resort.

How to Repair Windows 98

Be sure that your AV and firewall is disabled before starting:

The Internet Explorer Repair Tool
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_5.htm#repair_tool

or.........

If you have not already done so, then you might try a repair of IE6 as
follows:

or

Browser is IE6 v. 6.0.2800.1106, patched up to date.

Trying to do the IE security test at qualys.com (
http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php ), but it's not letting me proceed.
Instead I get the message: "Browser Checkup requires that you have cookies
enabled in your browser. Please verify that you have cookies enabled and
restart the test." Found the location in the program where you do this
through Help but there is no Privacy tab under Internet Options where Help
said it would be. I want to perform the test because I had to alter my
settings under Security to achieve a download from the Canon site, and I
don't know if reclicking "Normal" afterwards, which I did, is enough.

1. Has the qualsys test been disabled as a side effect of recent security
patches?
2. Is the missing Privacy Tab now "normal" as a result of recent security
patches?
3. Where are the cookie settings now, and if I alter them for this test,
would is it still meaningful, since I have to adjust browser security
settings downward from the norm to enable it?
