QFE location

I have a customer that needs to quickly start developing
with xpe sp1. He needs to install the QFEs but they are
no longer available on the public Microsoft site. He
does not have a EULA license number yet so he can't get
into https://microsoft.embeddedoem.com/ to get the QFEs.
Is there a way to get them other than
https://microsoft.embeddedoem.com/? Is there a way to
expedite the EULA License number process?

Any help is appreciated.

Talk to your distributor about pushing the CLA process with Microsoft
quicker.

Gordon, thank you for your quick response. My company
has completed the CLA process because we buy XPE and CE
licenses.

My customer does not have a distributor yet, he is using
an evaluation copy of the tools to do his feasibility
research. How can I get him past this point?

I sent him a sample SLD for our hardware and many of the
components are QFE upgrades. I tell all of my customers
that they should always load all available QFEs when they
install the tools.

When someone buys the XP Embedded tool suite, are they
forced at that time to get a CLA number? None of my
other customers have voiced this problem.

Alex,

Just out of curiosity.. What QFE you (your customer) is
looking for and can't find on the Microsoft public site?

Alex,

In order to buy tools you must first sign CLA papers with numbers on them. Only then you can make a purchase, so they should have
numbers on papers that they have signed.

Are you talking about ToolKit or runtime licenses here?
CLA is only required for a runtime license.

Konstantin,

Can't tell exactly. But in order to make non eval version of image you will need CLA for sure.

Yes.. Because you would need a PID number and this means runtime license :)

Alex,

Konstantin is correct. your customer can purchase toolkit (TD, CD, CDM) from
the distributor without signing a CLA, but in order to Runtime License the
Build, you MUST have a CLA on file with Microsoft. Also, you can get the
QFE's from the public site Konstantin mentioned above, but if you plan to
re-distribute the image, you must obtain them from the secure OEM site, and
you cannot get access to that without a CLA. (That is to say, if your
customer plans on selling the completed product to someone else, or you do
the image build for them) Very confusing, I know... if you wish you or your
customer can contact me offline, and I can assist with the process. it's
really not that hard if you have a distributor that is familiar with the
process. :)

HTH,
JC
