Hello,

My mom noticed that after applying security update QB828028 (MS04-007) to
Windows XP Home, it broke her internet connection sharing with her Win 98SE
machine. Uninstalling the patch corrects the problem - reinstalling again
breaks ICS.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,
Samboca

Almost the same problem here. On two machines one laptop
(thinkPad A21p WinXP SP1 with all avail updates) and the
other one desktop (Dell Prec 650 WinXP SP1) after
installing the latest MS04-007 update I'm having problems
with accessing web through IE. The problem starts not
immediately but after some time of browsing. The internet
connection hangs like my DNS server is down or something
but if you open command promt and try tracert.exe to any
major sites it works without a problem. Restarting a
machine helps to restore the connection. I haven't tried
to uninstall it yet. Any ideas? Seems to me some bug in
the update.

Thanks,
Rob

We might have the same problem but in different context. Read my post: "ICF
(firewall) enabled by the latest security patches (828028, 832894 - Feb
2004) with SUS server?"

Your ICF (Internet Connection Firewall) might be enabled by the patch so
other computers cannot connect your XP box.
