G'Day,

I have the above mobo. Have tried all the settings for power management
in the BIOS. However at no point will Windows XP Pro SP1 with all
patches display any power management support ie.
- If I go to Settings.Control Panel.Power Options
- I have no settings there to turn off my monitor
- Allow the computer to suspend / hibernate
Have flashed the BIOS to the latest and that is of no help either.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions etc. greatly
appreciated. So far the only advice I have received is to set the BIOS
to default values and re-install Windows but that is rather extreme. ;-)

TIA

When you go to the advanced display properties and click on the Adapter
card, does it show you info about your card or is it all empty...which would
indicate that you are running in the default generic display mode, in which
case you will not have any of the power management options.

I have a GeForce FX 5700 card (which Windows recognises) with dual
monitor support configured, so I am definitely not running "plain old
vanilla VGA".....

Then that rules that one out. Question, did it work at one time?

No it has never worked for me. However friends with the identical mobo,
power supply and case have it working for them no problem.

The most probable cause is the Video driver that may not have been installed
properly or it is corrupt.
If you have a spare partition or drive, install a second copy of WindowsXP
on it and then install the video driver. See if it will give you the
Standby. If it does then you will know for sure that there is something
wrong with your main Windows installation.
